The movie itself has garnered bad reviews over the years with most referring to the bad accents used by the actors throughout the movie along with a slow moving plot, and less than spectacular acting. It is the only U2 song on the album, even though “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” is also spotlighted in the film. The soundtrack album was released in advance of the movie, and contained the album version of “With or Without You” as taken from “The Joshua Tree” album. And once again sings along to “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” while drinking in a later scene.
Later in the movie as “With or Without You” plays, we actually hear Tommy Lee Jones sing along with “With or Without You” singing the And you give, and you give, and you give yourself away” portion of the song.
